FORMULA FOR IMPACT

Our Clubs join with Boys & Girls Clubs around the globe to utilize the Formula for Impact to positively impact the lives of young people in our community.

The Club’s Formula for Impact defines specific strategies to increase quality programming for three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. In York County, we are finding great success in strengthening the quality of our programs and increasing frequency of a Club member’s daily attendance. In fact, our attendance is up 175% from last year. We are implementing a Club Experience filled with life-changing programs, fun, enriching activities, and supportive relationships with peers and caring adults. The combination of these critical elements enables and empowers Club youth to achieve positive outcomes.

2015 Youth of the Year

Zikeria Shannon
2015 Youth of the Year

Congratulations to our 2015 Youth of the Year winner, Zikeria Shannon! Zikeria, a 10th grade student at Northwestern High School and member of our Rock Hill Teen Center, recently competed in and proudly represented our Clubs at the South Carolina State Youth of the Year Competition in April. There she met Lieutenant Governor Henry McMaster and participated in several leadership activities along with other Youth of the Year representatives from across the state.

The Youth of the Year award is the highest honor bestowed upon Boys & Girls Club members. Established in 1947, Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program for Club members, promoting service to Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability.Zikeria has been a member of our Rock Hill Teen Center for two years and continues to set a positive example at our Club as she works towards her high school graduation!

Zikeria is a true example of what it means to be a Boys & Girls Club member demonstrating strong academic success, moral character and healthy lifestyles and we could not be more proud to have her represent the Boys & Girls Clubs of York County as our 2015 Youth of the Year Winner.
